Safety Guidelines

RAW TRAILS – EASTERN GHATS OFF-ROAD 2026

Safety is non-negotiable at RAW TRAILS ADV. These guidelines exist to protect you, your fellow riders, and the communities we ride through. Failure to follow safety guidelines may result in disqualification.

1. Mandatory Protective Gear

The following gear is compulsory at all times while riding. No exceptions.

  • Full-face helmet — ISI or ECE 22.06 certified. Open-face, half-face, and non-certified helmets are not permitted.
  • Riding jacket — CE Level 1 or Level 2 armour at shoulders, elbows, and back.
  • Riding gloves — with knuckle protection. Bare hands or regular gloves are not permitted.
  • Riding pants — with CE-rated knee and hip armour.
  • Riding boots — ankle protection required. Sneakers, sandals, or casual footwear are not permitted.

Gear checks will be conducted at the start of each riding day. Riders failing the gear check will not be permitted to ride and will not receive a refund.

2. Pre-Ride Motorcycle Check

Before each riding day, inspect your motorcycle for:

  • Tyre pressure and condition — check for cuts, bulges, or excessive wear
  • Brake function — both front and rear brakes must be fully operational
  • Chain tension and lubrication
  • Engine oil and coolant levels
  • Lights — headlight, tail light, and indicators
  • Fuel level — carry extra fuel if required for the day's route
  • Handlebar and lever condition

3. Riding Rules

  • Always ride within your skill level. Do not attempt obstacles beyond your capability.
  • Maintain a safe following distance from the rider ahead — minimum 10 metres on trails.
  • Do not overtake on blind corners, narrow trails, or during descents.
  • Slow down at all water crossings and assess depth before entering.
  • Stop and assist any fallen rider. Do not leave an injured rider alone.
  • Follow the designated route. Do not deviate without marshal approval.
  • Obey all marshal signals and instructions immediately.
  • No racing or timed segments unless explicitly designated by organisers.

4. Zero Tolerance: Alcohol & Substances

Riding under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs judgement is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event without refund.

This applies from the moment the first riding briefing begins until the final rider check-in at the end of each day.

5. Medical & Emergency Procedures

  • A first-aid kit and trained first-aid personnel will be present at the event base camp.
  • A sweep vehicle will follow the last rider on all trail sections.
  • In the event of an accident, stop your motorcycle safely, activate hazard signals, and call for the sweep vehicle or nearest marshal.
  • Do not move an injured rider unless there is immediate danger (fire, flood, traffic).
  • Emergency contact numbers will be shared at the pre-event briefing. Save them in your phone.
  • The nearest hospital to the event base is Rampachodavaram Government Hospital. Organisers will maintain a list of nearby medical facilities.

6. Trail Etiquette & Environment

  • Do not litter on trails or in villages. Carry a bag for your waste.
  • Respect local communities — slow down in villages, do not honk unnecessarily.
  • Do not disturb wildlife or damage vegetation.
  • Stay on designated trails. Do not create new tracks through forest or farmland.
  • Campfire rules will be communicated at the briefing. Follow them strictly.

7. Communication & Connectivity

Mobile connectivity may be limited in certain trail sections. Organisers will provide:

  • A WhatsApp group for all registered participants with real-time updates
  • Marshal radio communication on all trail sections
  • Emergency contact numbers and a designated SOS protocol
  • A physical route map and GPS waypoints for the event route

8. Weather & Trail Conditions

The Eastern Ghats terrain can be unpredictable, especially during and after monsoon. Organisers will monitor weather conditions and may modify or suspend riding activities if conditions are deemed unsafe. Participant safety takes absolute priority over the event schedule.
